Stamps Fall On The Road

The Red and White fought hard but dropped their third and final game of their road trip 33-30 to the Toronto Argonauts with a walkoff field goal in the dying seconds of the game.

The Stamps defence played a key role again picking up a couple sacks to go along with a forced fumble and four interceptions in the game.

The Stamps defence picked up right where they left off from last week when Kyle Wilson forced a fumble and Damon Webb recovered it and ran it back 46-yards into Argos territory.

Once the Red and White grabbed the momentum, short-yardage quarterback Quincy Vaughn and the offence came in to punch in a 1-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead in the first.

Midway through the first, Ben Labrosse and the defence continued to dominate as he picked up his fourth interception of the season. A couple drives later Anthony Johnson picked up his first interception of the year for the team’s third turnover in the first half.

In the final minutes of the second quarter, Adams called his own number for a six-yard rushing touchdown. The Stamps headed into halftime down 19-17.

Fast track to the third quarter with five minutes left. Adrian Greene picked off Chad Kelly and ran it back 67-yards for the touchdown to take the lead at 24-20.

The interceptions didn’t stop there. Labrosse picked off his second interception of the game with a couple minutes remaining in the third quarter. Marking his fifth pick in nine games this season.

The Stamps couldn’t hold on as the Argos kicked a field goal with seconds remaining on the clock.

The Stampeders return to McMahon Stadium for a tilt with the BC Lions on Aug. 13 with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
