Adrian Greene Eyeing Return

The Stamps may be catching a break.

Not just a literal break, as the club returns from their final bye week of the season, but a figurative one as well.

While the Stampeders have been pummeled with injuries throughout the 2025 campaign, most recently a season-ending injury suffered by Folarin Orimolade, a key piece to the team’s success could be ready to make his return to the lineup on Friday night when Calgary hosts the BC Lions at 7:30 p.m.

“I’m feeling good, I feel ready to go,” said Adrian Greene, who has notched back-to-back practices as a full participant and taken starting reps at field-side corner after missing five straight games.

The 26-year-old was in the Most Outstanding Canadian conversation before being sidelined due to a lower leg injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Montreal Alouettes.

The injury came immediately after Greene picked off McLeod Bethel-Thompson for his fourth interception of the season and was hit in the middle of his leg by Bethel-Thompson’s own leg brace.

“I’m getting back into the swing of things, running and getting my strength back, so it was a little bit of a road bump but we’re here now and that’s all that’s important,” he said.

Not only does Friday night’s matchup potentially mark Greene’s first game back since injury, it would also be the first time he plays his former team.

Drafted in the fourth round by the Lions in 2022, the Saint Mary’s alum spent the first three seasons of his CFL career in Vancouver before heading east of the Rocky Mountains this past winter and joining the Red and White.

Although he’s suited up in black and orange for 42 games, the West division tilt is just another game on the calendar for Greene.

“You can’t ever make the moment too big,” said the defensive back. “Every week you get ready to compete, and that’s the same for this week.

“We focus on getting in the film room, preparing for this game, and leaning on each other.

“Every week is an opportunity, and the BC Lions are our opportunity this week.”

With first-year head coach Buck Pierce at the helm in BC, it would be the first time Greene gets an up-close look at the Lions new offence. However, with three years playing in Vancouver under his belt, he does have firsthand experience practicing against the talents of Nathan Rourke, Keon Hatcher and Justin McInnis.

“They have a bunch of great players across the board and they’re competitors as well,” he said. “At the end of the day, we have to show up and play our best football if we want to win. That’s what it’s going to be for every week.”

Greene recorded 42 tackles and three interceptions during his time with the Leos. Only seven games into his tenure with Calgary, he’s tallied nearly half that number of tackles with 20 and surpassed his interception total with four.

With the race to the playoffs in full effect, Greene is looking forward to picking up where he left off.

“Every time you go out on the field you want to put out a good product. That’s my goal week in and week out,” said Greene.

“This is that time of the year where everyone has to bring their ‘A game’.

“It’s that final stretch, that final third of the season, and everyone has to put their chinstraps on tight and tie up their shoelaces and get ready to go.”
