The Stampeders are riding a 10-game winning streak.

They’ve only lost one game all season.

They’ve entrenched themselves at the top of each and every weekly power poll put out by various organizations and media outlets.

And yet, there is plenty of work left to do for the Red and White.

For starters, despite the fact the team is loss-free since the middle of July, the players and coaches at McMahon Stadium are fully aware there’s still room for improvement.

Several of the victories during the lengthy hot streak have come on nights the offence wasn’t clicking on all cylinders and it’s been the ultra-stingy defence stepping up to save the day.

In addition, three of the 10 wins have been by less than a touchdown including a last-minute comeback victory in the Labour Day rematch in Edmonton.

So while the results have been positive, the team is not delusional enough to believe it is invincible.

If the Stamps need convincing that this is no time to get comfortable and relax, all they have to do is take a peek over their shoulders and see a blue-and-gold streak coming at them hard and fast.

While the Stamps have clinched a playoff spot and a home game in the post-season, first place is still up for grabs because the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are having an excellent season in their own right.

With the Stamps on a bye, the Bombers head into Week 16 with a 10-3 record and a chance to move to within three points of Calgary for top spot in the West Division if they can pick up their ninth victory in the past 10 games.

And there’s a potential showdown looming as the Stamps play host to the Bombers for the regular-season finale in Week 20.

Here’s how the schedule shapes up for the remainder of the season:

• The Blue Bombers play three of their next four games at home against teams currently under .500 – Friday’s contest against Hamilton (3-10) and Week 17 and 19 meetings with BC (6-7). The Bombers have won five in a row on home turf since dropping a 29-10 decision to the Stamps in Week 3
• In Week 18, the Bombers travel to Toronto to take on the East Division-leading Argonauts
• Meanwhile, the Stamps return from their bye with a road trip to Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats are a longshot for the playoffs but they’ve been a much-improved team since the start of September with a 3-2 record after a disastrous 0-8 start that included a 60-1 caning at the hands of the Stamps on July 29 at McMahon
• Calgary’s two games after the visit to Hamilton are against teams in the middle of the battle for playoff positioning in the West or a crossover into the East. The Stamps host Saskatchewan in Week 18 and then travel to Edmonton in Week 19. Both the Roughriders and Eskimos are 7-6 although they’ve taken very different paths to get there. The injury-ravaged Eskimos have lost six in a row after a 7-0 start while the Riders gave won five of their past seven games after kicking off the season with a 2-4 record
• Calgary’s magic number to clinch first place is three – any combination of Stamps wins and Blue Bombers losses equaling three will do the trick
• The Bombers have a mathematical chance of locking up first place before Week 20. Winnipeg would need to win its next four games and the Stamps would have to lose three in a row
• If the battle for top spot isn’t decided in the next four weeks, it all comes down to the Nov. 3 Bombers-Stamps meeting at McMahon. The winner earns a bye and advances directly to the West final and the loser would host the West semi
• Because of the Stamps’ opening-week tie in Ottawa, it’s highly unlikely Calgary and Winnipeg will finish with the same record and necessitate the use of tie-breakers. But if it does come down to that, the Bombers would need to win the regular-season finale by 20 points to wipe out the Stamps’ 19-point win over Winnipeg earlier this season
