A closer look at the Stampeders’ 36-17 win in Hamilton on Saturday:

Home for the playoffs

For the eighth time in the past nine years, McMahon Stadium will be the site of a playoff game as the Stamps clinched at least second place in the West Division with Saturday’s victory.

That’s the most home playoff games in the CFL since the start of the 2008 season. Montreal, which has played six home playoff games during that period, is second in that category followed by Hamilton (five), Saskatchewan (four), Edmonton (three) and Toronto, BC and Winnipeg (two).

Ottawa, which rejoined the league in 2014, has hosted one playoff game so far.

Lucky 13

The Stamps have become just the second team in CFL history to go unbeaten in 13 consecutive within the same season.

Calgary’s run of 12-0-1 since a season-opening loss in Vancouver matches a 12-0-1 run by the Edmonton Eskimos to finish the 1981 campaign.

In addition, Calgary is just the fourth team in CFL history to win at least 11 straight regular-season games within the same season, matching the 1948 Stamps, the 2001 Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the 2005 BC Lions.

Lucky 13, Part II

The Stamps’ Bo Levi Mitchell joins ex-Eskimo Warren Moon as the only quarterbacks in CFL history to go 13 straight starts without a loss.

Saturday’s win in Hamilton gives Mitchell a 12-0-1 record in his past 13 starts, matching the record Moon posted for Edmonton over 13 games in 1981 and 1982.

Mitchell ties Ron Lancaster, Doug Flutie and Khari Jones for the second-longest winning streak by a QB as all four won 11 straight starts. The record is 12 by Winnipeg’s Kenny Ploen in 1961.

Mitchell is the quickest to reach 40 career wins — he needed just 48 starts — and his .844 winning percentage is tops in CFL history.

Double-D doubles down

Rookie receiver DaVaris Daniels continues to make a major impact for the Red and White.

Despite starting the season on the practice roster and only suiting up for half of the Stamps’ 14 games, Daniels leads the team with six touchdown catches. His two-touchdown performance in Hamilton was his second of the season and he cracked the 100-yard plateau for the third time.

Double-D’s dozen

Calgary’s Dave Dickenson has closed to within one of the league record for most wins by a first-year head coach.

His 12 victories puts him one back of his general manager John Hufnagel (who won 13 games in 2008) as well as Adam Rita (1991) and Mike Benevides (2012) for the mark.

Road to success

The Stamps improved their road mark to 5-1-1, which puts Calgary slightly ahead of BC and Winnipeg (both 5-2) for the best away record in the CFL this season.

In fact, only one team has more wins at home than the Stamps have accumulated on the road — and that’s the Stamps, who are 7-0 at McMahon Stadium.

West dominating the East

East Division teams prevailed in the first three meetings of the 2016 season against West opponents and were 6-3-1 after 10 inter-divisional contests.

Since then, it’s been all West Division, which has compiled a 16-2 record against the East in the past 18 meetings including Saturday’s Stamps win in Hamilton.

Accordingly, a .500 record is good enough for Ottawa to lead the East while a break-even mark leaves Edmonton fourth in the West.

Point-ing the way

Saturday marked the 11th time in 14 games this season Calgary has scored at least 30 points and the Stamps have hit the milestone in each of their past seven games.

The previous time the Stamps scored 30 or more in seven straight was in 2008 and Calgary is 44-0 since July of 2012 when scoring at least that many points.
