Two members of the Calgary Stampeders have been honoured by the Canadian Football League for their performance in last week’s 35-15 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Running back Jerome Messam and kicker Rene Paredes make up two-thirds of the group recognized in the latest round of the CFL’s weekly awards.

Messam ran for 109 yards and a touchdown against the Roughriders and added five catches for 36 yards. The 31-year-old Toronto native leads the CFL with 404 rushing yards on the season and is also first in the CFL with an average of 6.0 yards per carry.

For his part, Paredes accounted for 17 points in the Stamps’ Week 7 win including a five-for-five performance in field goals. He also converted a pair of extra points. Paredes has now been successful on 16 straight field goal attempts and he’s second in the CFL with 74 points.

Stamps players have now received four player-of-the-week awards from the CFL this season.
