Jerome Messam was traded to the Stampeders on a trade-deadline day deal with Saskatchewan and played the final two regular-season games and two playoff games for the Red and White.

Named a 2015 West Division all-star, Messam was just one of three 1,000-yard rushers in the CFL last season and his average of 6.2 yards per carry was tops among all running backs.

He finished the regular season third in the CFL with 1,006 rushing yards and had two touchdowns on 163 carries and a career-high 53 receptions for 497 yards. He only played 17 games due to the fact he had back-to-back bye weeks when he was traded.

The Graceland grad first entered the CFL as an undrafted free agent in 2010 spending one year with the BC Lions before being traded to Edmonton. He was the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2011 after becoming the first Canadian in 11 years to rush for 1,000 yards.

He was traded to Montreal before the 2013 season and signed with the Riders prior to the 2014 season.

The teammate who can always make me laugh is… I’ll say Thibault. He’s just a funny guy, he’s still got that hard French accent. He’s got a good sense of humor.

The historical figure I’d most like to have a conversation with is… Nelson Mandela. Just about his life, the struggles he went through to overcome being in jail to become one of the most famous and prominent figures in world history.

Without a doubt, the person who would play me in a movie is… Will Smith.

The reality show I would love to be on is… Amazing Race Canada. My girlfriend and I are actually trying to get on.

My favourite breakfast is… Jamaica’s national dish of ackee and salt fish with fried dumplings.

My favourite childhood toy was…Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael. The only Ninja Turtle I would get was Raphael.
