Calgary Stampeders running back Peyton Logan has been named one of the Canadian Football League’s top performers for Week 5 after his standout performance in Thursday’s 49-6 road win over the Edmonton Elks.
The rookie from the University of Tennessee Martin scored his first two CFL touchdowns to help the Stampeders extend their season-opening win streak to four games.
Early in the third quarter, Logan hauled in the ball after an unsuccessful Edmonton field goal attempt and returned it 122 yards for a major. It was the Stamps’ first missed-field goal return touchdown since Larry Taylor in 2012 and was tied for the fourth-longest return in franchise history.
Later in the third quarter, Logan scored on a 21-yard run to put the Stamps up 28-3. For the game, Logan had 196 all-purposes yards including 122 on the missed-field goal return, 45 on five carries and 29 on three punt returns.
Logan is the fourth Stamps player this season to be recognized as a CFL top performer as kicker Rene Paredes and Titus Wall were honoured in Week 2 and Malik Henry was recognized in Week 3.
