Stampeders Mourn Death Of Rob Peters

It is with great sadness the Calgary Stampeders and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation learn of the death of Rob Peters.

Peters was part of a group of local businesspeople who purchased the Stampeders in 2005 and he remained involved in the football club as an executive committee member.

“Rob was an integral part of the group that helped put the Stampeders back on solid footing 17 years ago and his contributions to the Calgary sports scene won’t soon be forgotten,” said CSEC president and CEO John Bean. “On behalf of the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation, I offer condolences to Rob’s family and his many friends.”

Peters had been a fixture on the Calgary business scene since co-founding investment firm Peters & Co. Limited in 1971. The company was the first Alberta-based member of the Toronto Stock Exchange.

In addition to his ownership stake in the Stampeders, Peters’ diverse interests included serving on the board of Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society and as chair of the Glenbow Museum board.

The University of Calgary alum was also a generous donor to his alma mater.

Peters is survived by his wife Ruth, daughters Elizabeth, Shannon, Jessica and Rory and son Brennan.
