Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, defensive back Jamar Wall and kicker Rene Paredes will serve as the Calgary Stampeders’ team captains for the 2021 Canadian Football League season.
Mitchell is in his ninth season with Calgary and this is his sixth year as a captain. The Katy, Tex., native boasts the highest winning percentage for a starting quarterback in league history and is a two-time winner of both the Grey Cup MVP award and the Stamps’ Herm Harrison Memorial Award for service to the community.
Wall is a two-time CFL all-star who is heading into his ninth season with Calgary and his second as a team captain. He has played 144 career regular-season games for the Red and White is a two-time Grey Cup winner.
Paredes is entering his 10th season with the Stampeders and his seventh as a captain. The veteran kicker is a four-time division and CFL all-star and has been the Stamps’ nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player on four occasions.
The Stampeders will have a fourth team captain, which will be filled on a rotational basis. Ante Milanovic-Litre, a fourth-year running back out of Simon Fraser, will serve as captain for Saturday’s season-opener against the Toronto Argonauts.
