Veteran Linebacker Added To Practice Roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added American linebacker Marcus Ball to the practice roster.

Ball played 56 regular-season games over two stints and four seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, accumulating 244 defensive tackles including 13 tackles for loss, 13 special-teams tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 18 knockdowns and seven interceptions including two that he returned for touchdowns. Ball played a total of six post-season games for Toronto and was part of the Argos’ Grey Cup championship teams in 2012 and 2017.

In between his stints with Toronto, Ball spent three years in the National Football League and played a total of 18 games for the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers. He recorded 20 tackles.

In college, Ball played his junior and senior seasons at the University of Memphis. In 19 games for the Tigers, he recorded 105 total tackles including two tackles for loss and four interceptions. He played at Pearl River Community College in 2008 and earned first-team all-American honours. Ball started his collegiate career at Florida State in 2006 and 2007. In 12 career games for the Seminoles, he recorded 37 tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one interception.

In another transaction, global offensive lineman Guillermo Calderon has been released from the practice roster.
