For a second consecutive year, a record has been set in the annual Salvation Army Coat Drive., supported by Q107.

A total 5,100 jackets were collected at the Oct. 31 game against Saskatchewan as well as in the days leading up to the game through school and workplace campaigns. In addition to breaking the record set a year ago, the total surpassed the target, which had been set at 5,000 jackets.

“Thanks to Stamps fans and everyone who is sharing the warmth by donating a jacket,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “With the weather taking a very wintry turn this week, the timing of the generosity could not be better. We thank Q107 for the wonderful and enthusiastic work they have done promoting and supporting this initiative.”

This year’s contributions bring the all-time donation totals to 20,700 coats.

Stamps players including quarterback Drew Tate, who has been the team’s representative for the Share the Warmth program for the past five years, and co-player rep Brandon Smith will visit the Salvation Army Centre of Hope in the near future to help sort and distribute the jackets collected in this year’s coat drive.
