As part of their ongoing mandate to support amateur football at all levels, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and the Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce a contribution of $50,000 per year over 10 years to the University of Calgary’s athletics program.
The Stamps are also proud to announce that corporate partner ATB Financial will be donating $50,000 per year over a 10-year period to support Dinos Athletics, bringing the total annual contribution to $100,000.
“The Stampeders have a long-standing mutually beneficial relationship with the University of Calgary and we’re pleased to make this contribution on behalf of the Stampeders and Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and all of our fans,” said Ken King, President and CEO of CSEC and Chairman of the Calgary Stampeder Football Club.
“We’re also delighted that our friends at ATB Financial, who have are very well known for their commitment to giving back to the community, have chosen to support the Dinos with this generous donation.”
“At ATB, we support athletics at all levels, from little tykes all the way up to the pros,” said John Windwick, ATB Financial’s Vice-President, Community Initiatives. “Our support will help ensure student athletes at the University of Calgary have access to top-notch coaching, state-of-the-art equipment and training, and the opportunity to compete at an elite level. It’s one more way ATB can help grow Alberta.”
The contribution is in keeping with the mandate of the Stampeders Foundation, which is to support amateur football in addition to health and wellness programs. The sale of 50/50 tickets at every Stamps home game is just one of the ways in which the team supports the Dinos and other amateur teams.
“Varsity and amateur sports depend greatly on community support to be successful,” says Elizabeth Cannon, president and vice-chancellor, University of Calgary. “The University of Calgary and the Dinos Athletics program sincerely appreciate the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and ATB Financial for their generous gift. These funds will not only energize our athletic teams, but also help develop our student-athletes into leaders on and off the field.”
