Stamps home for Halloween

By Stampeders.com Staff

The Stampeders wrap up the regular-season portion of their 2015 home schedule with a Halloween matinee against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Saturday’s contest — which kicks off at 1 p.m. — represents the only visit by the rival Riders and is the next-to-last CFL game at McMahon Stadium this year. The Stamps will host either the Western Semi-Final or Western Final next month.

The Stamps are 12-4 and with a win would keep their hopes alive for finishing first in the West Division. The Eskimos (13-4) play their final regular-season contest Sunday against Montreal.

The Roughriders are 2-14 and have been eliminated from playoff contention.

While Calgary was on a bye in Week 18, Saskatchewan dropped a 35-24 decision at home to the Eskimos. Prior to the idle week, the Stamps were 27-15 winners against Toronto at Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field.

This is the second and final regular-season meeting between the Stamps and Roughriders as Calgary claimed a 34-31 victory at Saskatchewan on Aug. 22.

There figures to be plenty of strange characters in the McMahon stands on Saturday and we’re not just talking about goofy Riders supporters with watermelons on their heads. Fans are invited to dress up in their Halloween best for a chance to win great prizes.

There will also be candy giveaways at the entrance gates and the pre-game Fan Zone will feature a pair of Halloween living statues and a spooky bouncy castle.

Following the contest, 44 lucky fans will win a game-worn Stamps jersey as part of the always-popular Jerseys Off Our Backs promotion, which is presented by Safeway.

If you need to make room in your closet for that potential new jersey, consider donating your new or gently used jackets to the Salvation Army Coat Drive, which takes place at the Oct. 31 game. The collected coats will be distributed to those in need through the Salvation Army.

At halftime, a lucky fan will win a Ram 1500 as part of the King of the Field contest.
