About last night…

Here’s a closer look at Saturday’s 27-15 victory by Calgary against Toronto in Hamilton:

Coach of the century

After Saturday’s contest, Stamps co-captain Rob Cote presented John Hufnagel with the one and only game ball.

And why not? Huff on Saturday became only the 10th man in CFL history to record 100 victories as a head coach.

Hufnagel needed just 142 career games to reach triple digits, making him the second quickest to reach 100. Former Stamps bench boss Wally Buono needed only 138 games to get to 100 while Bud Grant achieved the milestone in his 158th game.

Rogers gets company

With seven grabs for 74 yards on Saturday, Stamps slotback Marquay McDaniel joined teammate Eric Rogers as a member of the 1,000-yard receiving club in 2015.

It’s the 19th time in franchise history the Stamps have had at least two 1,000-yard receivers in the same campaign and the first time since 2010 when three team members — Romby Bryant, Ken-Yon Rambo and Nik Lewis — accomplished the feat.

McDaniel is tops in the CFL this season with 84 catches while Rogers leads the way with 1,352 yards, which is 268 yards more than his closest pursuer.

Here are the leading CFL pass-catching combinations so far in 2015:

164 catches, 2,382 yards (Stampeders: Eric Rogers and Marquay McDaniel)

150 catches, 2,013 yards (Eskimos: Adarius Bowman, Derel Walker)

148 catches, 1,930 yards (RedBlacks: Ernest Jackson, Brad Sinopoli)

129 catches, 1,627 yards (Alouettes: SJ Green, Nik Lewis)

120 catches, 1,489 yards (Blue Bombers: Nick Moore, Darvin Adams)

120 catches, 1,773 yards (Tiger-Cats: Terrell Sinkfield Jr., Luke Tasker)

119 catches, 1,531 yards (Argonauts: Vidal Hazelton, Tori Gurley)

Boatmen sunk

The Stamps completed a season-series sweep of the Argos on Saturday, marking the second straight season Calgary has won both meetings with Toronto.

Calgary finishes the season with a 6-2 record against the East and Hufnagel is now 47-17 in his career (a sparkling .734 winning percentage) in games against the other division.

The Stamps haven’t lost the season series against the East since 2007 — the year before Huff took over — and since that time Calgary is 14-2 against Hamilton, 10-6 against both Toronto and Montreal, 10-2 against Winnipeg in the 2008-13 stretch the Blue Bombers were in the East and 3-1 against Ottawa.

Incidentally, the Stamps are now 2-0 at Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field — with one win over the Ticats, the stadium’s usual tenants, and one against Toronto. The Argos, meanwhile, are 0-3 in the venue.

Sackmasters

Five different players recorded a total of six sacks against the Argos on Saturday.

Leading the race to the quarterback was Freddie Bishop III, who got to Trevor Harris twice and pushed his season total to 11. Charleston Hughes also reached double digits on the season as he recorded his 10th sack.

It’s the second time in three seasons a pair of Stamps have recorded at least 10 sacks. In 2013, Hughes (18) and Cordarro Law (14) were the Red and White’s quarterback-terrorizing tandem.
