The Calgary Stampeders have added national receiver Matthew Norzil to the practice roster.
Norzil was selected by the Toronto Argonauts in the fourth round (30th overall) of the 2015 CFL Canadian Draft. He attended training camp with the Argos and was released on June 20. He also spent time on the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ practice roster this season.
The six-foot-one, 186-lb. Montreal product played 15 games over four seasons at the Universite de Laval. He was a Quebec conference all-star in 2012 after making 34 catches for 548 yards and six touchdowns. Norzil added 10 carries for 116 yards. He was limited to just one game for the Rouge et Or over the 2013 and 2014 seasons due to injuries.
Prior to attending Laval, Norzil was a standout at Vanier College in Saint-Laurent, Que. In 2010, he set single-season league records for receiving yards (976) and touchdown catches (15).
