The Calgary Stampeders are the first team to clinch a position in the 2015 Canadian Football League playoffs.
The Stamps were assured of a post-season berth when the Montreal Alouettes lost to the Ottawa RedBlacks on Thursday night. The result ensured that the Stampeders, who will finish no lower than third in the West Division, can not be ousted from the playoff picture by Montreal in a crossover scenario.
It’s the 11th consecutive season the Stampeders have qualified for the playoffs. Going into the 2015 season, the BC Lions and the Montreal Alouettes are the only other teams who have qualified for the post-season every year since 2005.
The only longer streak in Stampeders franchise history is the period of 13 straight post-season appearances from 1989 to 2001.
