The Calgary Stampeders have added international defensive lineman Brandon Thurmond to the practice roster.

Thurmond was on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice roster for one month in 2013 and made one start for the Ticats in 2014 before suffering a season-ending injury. The Augusta, Ga., native attended training camp with the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons in 2013.

Thurmond played his college football at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and as a senior in 2012 he led all NCAA divisions with 17.5 sacks. He added three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick and was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference defensive player of the year.
