Stamps visit Winnipeg

By Stampeders.com Staff

The Stampeders look to sustain their momentum on Saturday as they visit Investors Group Field for a meeting with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. MDT.

Calgary is riding a season-best three-game winning streak and has taken over sole possession of first place in the West Division with a 6-2 record.

The Blue Bombers are tied with BC for third place in the West with a 3-5 mark and are trying to snap a two-game losing streak.

The teams have already met once this season as the Stamps rallied from a 16-0 deficit to win 26-25.

The Stamps are 2-0 at the Blue Bombers’ new stadium and have won five straight games in Winnipeg overall.

Calgary is coming off a 34-31 victory in Saskatchewan on Saturday while the Bombers were on a bye last week. It’s the second straight week the Stamps are facing a team that was idle the previous week.

Stamps quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has thrown for more than 300 yards in three of his past four contests and the only game he didn’t accomplish the feat was the Week 8 victory against Ottawa in which he was pulled in the third quarter and given the rest of the game off with the Stamps comfortably ahead.

Mitchell has thrown for 2,168 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games this season.

With starter Drew Willy injured, the Bombers are expected to go with second-year QB Robert Marve. The Purdue alum completed 18 of 29 passes for 203 yards, one touchdown and one interception in his previous start, a Week 8 loss to the Toronto Argonauts.

This is the second game of a stretch of six consecutive contests against West Division opponents for the Stamps, who are 2-0 against divisional foes so far in 2015. The Bombers are 2-2 against the West.

The Stamps, who are 1-2 on the road, are looking to even their record away from McMahon Stadium while the Bombers are 2-2 at home.
