Here’s another look at Calgary’s 25-20 victory over the Toronto Argonauts at McMahon Stadium on Monday.
Playing it close
When the Stampeders and Argonauts get together, chances are it’s going to be a close game and that was true once again on Monday.
The contest marked the ninth time in the 12 most recent regular-season meetings that a Stamps-Argos contest was decided by a margin of fewer than 10 points.
It was also the third out of four games during Week 3 of CFL action with a difference of less than a touchdown. Seven of the 12 games played so far this season have been decided by five or fewer points.
Calgary’s centurions
Eric Rogers on Monday became the third different Stampeders player to have a 100-yard receiving game in as many weeks.
He follows in the footsteps of Jeff Fuller, who accomplished the feat in Week 1, and Marquay McDaniel, who did it in Week 2.
That accounts for one-third of the 100-yard receiving games in the CFL so far this season and the Stamps are one of only two teams to have achieved that milestone more than once (Saskatchewan is the other).
Speaking of Rogers, he continues to produce since making his CFL debut on Oct. 24, 2014. In seven regular-season and post-season games for the Red and White, he has 30 catches for 512 yards and six touchdowns.
Cornish runs by another
Jon Cornish moved up another notch on the Stamps’ all-time rushing charts on Monday.
After overtaking Willie Burder (6,234) earlier this season, Cornish moved past Lovell Coleman (6,395 yards) for fourth place on the franchise’s career rushing list.
Cornish now stands at 6,407 yards and is now closing in on Earl Lunsford (6,994) for third place. He needs 588 yards to reach No. 3.
In case you missed it . . .
