Here’s another look at Calgary’s 29-11 loss at Montreal’s Percival Molson Stadium on Friday.
Since the start of the 2014 season, the Stampeders are a combined 8-0 in Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Toronto and Ottawa, outscoring their opponents by a total margin of 260-161.
In all other CFL cities — don’t wrack your brain on the problem, the list consists solely of Montreal — the Stamps are 0-2 and have been outpointed 60-26.
Since the start of John Hufnagel’s reign in 2008, Montreal is the only city in which the Stamps have a losing record. Calgary is 3-5 on the road against the Alouettes and a combined 37-19 against all other teams.
It’s worth noting that all those meetings were in the regular season and at Percival Molson Stadium. The other time the Stamps have travelled to Montreal during the Huff Era was the 2008 Grey Cup at Olympic Stadium and the Red and White prevailed 22-14.
Friday’s contest also marked the end of Bo Levi Mitchell’s perfect career mark on the road. The Calgary quarterback went into the game with an 8-0 record in starts away from McMahon Stadium.
Overall, it was only Mitchell’s third loss in 19 starts.
At 1-1 after two games, the Stampeders find themselves in very familiar territory. This is the ninth time in the past 12 seasons Calgary has been .500 after its first two outings.
The only exceptions are 2010 and 2014 (2-0) and 2009 (0-2).
When they return to action on July 13 against Toronto at McMahon, the Stamps will be trying to avoid their first two-game losing streak since Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2012 season.
