Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell and Bo Levi’s Shake ‘N’ Bacon Chips headline the 2015 season of Co-op-Stampeders Game Day Approved products.
Mitchell’s new chips join a full Stampeders line-up of Co-op Game Day Approved food and gear including specially packaged chocolate bars, bakery items, trail mix, autograph footballs, coolers and lawn chairs. The Game Day Approved partnership provides a portion of sales to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“Stampeders are proud to be associated with a community-minded organization such as Co-op,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “Bo Levi’s Shake ‘N Bacon Chips is not only a real quality item for Stamps fans to enjoy, but also represents a significant initiative in terms of contributions to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.”
“Game Day Approved continues to provide excitement for football fans and Co-op shoppers across Western Canada,” said Vic Huard, Executive Vice-President Strategy, Federated Co-operatives Limited. “It’s easy to support this initiative because it’s fun, we have great partners and, most importantly, we share a common goal of being champions for healthy children and healthy families.”
“Calgary Co-op members are some of the most loyal Stamps fans,” says Ken Woo, VP, Food Centre Operations and Merchandising, Calgary Co-op. “With Game Day Approved products, our members have the opportunity to purchase a product with a purpose – supporting our local team and the Alberta Children’s Hospital.”
Last year, $25,000 in proceeds from the Game Day Approved partnership was donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. This adds to Co-op’s donation of $825,000 over five years to the children’s hospital foundation.
“We are grateful to the Stampeders and Co-op for once again rallying the community behind the 90,000 sick and injured kids cared for at the Alberta Children’s Hospital each year,” said Saifa Koonar, President and CEO of the Alberta’s Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Community support like yours means kids and families at the hospital benefit from the best care possible, by helping fund leading-edge equipment, life-saving research and family centred programs. We thank everyone who will think of those families when shopping the aisles of their local Co-ops.”
In 2014, the Game Day Approved roster expanded to include four CFL teams: Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The four Game Day Approved partnerships have raised $179,000 for children’s hospital foundations in their respective markets.
