The Calgary Stampeders captains for the 2015 season are linebacker Juwan Simpson, quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, running back Rob Cote and punter Rob Maver. The four were tabbed to serve the captaincy roles as the result of a player vote.

Simpson is in his eighth season with the club. He is a three-time West Division all-star and was the finalist for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in 2010. The 30-year-old Decatur, Ala., native has won two Grey Cup championships with Calgary in 2008 and 2014. He has played 112 career regular-season and post-season games for the Red and White.

Mitchell was named the Stamps’ starting quarterback prior to the 2014 season and his 98.3 efficiency rating was the highest in the league. He tied a CFL record for most consecutive wins to start a career with seven and later became the first quarterback in CFL history to win 12 of his first 13 starts. The 25-year-old helped lead the team to the 2014 Grey Cup championship and was named the Grey Cup MVP.

Cote joined the Stampeders in 2007 and he has 140 games of experience and two Grey Cups with the Red and White. The 28-year-old Cochrane native was the 2013 recipient of the Presidents’ Ring award, as voted by his teammates, for demonstrating excellence on and off the field and also was presented with the Herm Harrison Memorial Award for his service to the community.

Maver is entering his sixth season with the Stampeders. He is a three-time division all-star, a two-time CFL all-star and was the Stamps’ nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2014. The 29-year-old holds the club record for most points by a rookie with 185, which also made him the CFL’s scoring leader that season.
