In their final tune-up before the Stampeders begin their 69th regular season in club history, the Red and White hit the road to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Calgary is coming off a 20-6 takedown of the BC Lions last week while the Edmonton Eskimos claimed a come-from-behind victory over the Riders in the Northern Kickoff from Fort McMurray, Alta., last Saturday.

Friday’s Mosaic Stadium matchup will be the final opportunity for several players to prove their worth, from 2015 draft selections to longtime veterans.

Stamps not available due to injury will include OL Brander Craighead, DL Ben D’Aguilar, WR Jeff Fuller, OL Karl Lavoie, DB Keon Raymond and RB Matt Walter.

However, running back and return specialist Tim Brown and LB Christopher Johnson will make the trip after agreeing to terms on Tuesday while the team will welcome the return of three defensive linemen in Corey Mace, Junior Turner and Shomari Williams. The trio will make their respective pre-season debuts as they were deemed healthy to return to practise this week.

Ninth-year quarterback Drew Tate, expected to take the field in the second half, will make his first appearance in 2015 after not seeing any action behind centre in last week’s pre-season opener.

Friday will also mark the first time safety Keenan MacDougall and defensive backs coach Tony Missick face their former squad after winning the 102nd Grey Cup with the Red and White in 2014, and will receive their championship rings prior to kickoff.

Once final roster cuts are made across the CFL before the 8 p.m. MDT deadline on Saturday, the Stampeders and Roughriders will begin preparing for Week 1 of the regular season. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will travel west to take on Calgary in a Grey Cup rematch while Saskatchewan will entertain the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Friday’s game will be streamed online courtesy the Riders and can be seen live on stampeders.com.
