Stamps mourn Jane Mawby

It is with great sadness that the Calgary Stampeders announce the death of Jane Mawby.

Jane was a member of the Stampeders family for 28 years, most recently serving in the role as Director of Football Administration. She worked with six head coaches and six general managers during her time with the Red and White and the Stampeders won five Grey Cup championships in that period.

“This is a great loss for both the team and for myself personally,” said head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. “She was a beloved member of the Stampeders family and a welcome female presence in a male-dominated world. Her gentle manner and warm sense of humour made her a favourite of anyone who was fortunate enough to work with her.

“Though she worked quietly behind-the-scenes and was not familiar to fans, Jane nevertheless made vital contributions to the team’s success. She will be greatly missed.”

Jane is survived by her son Matthew.
