Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that national receiver Jabari Arthur has signed a contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Arthur has played 71 regular-season games for the Red and White and has accumulated 95 catches for 1,145 yards and six touchdowns. The Montreal native also has seven career special-teams tackles. Arthur’s best season came in 2013 when he played all 18 games and made 41 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs.
“Jabari is an experienced Canadian receiver whose versatility has allowed him to play multiple receiver positions,” said Hufnagel. “I look forward to seeing him take advantage of an opportunity to play a larger role in the offence and I’m pleased that he has chosen to extend his stay in Calgary.”
Arthur joined the Stampeders in 2008 and was part of Calgary’s Grey Cup-winning team that season. He was traded to Winnipeg in 2009 but never played a game for the Blue Bombers and re-signed with the Red and White in 2010.
“I came into the CFL as a member of the Stampeders and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” said Arthur. “I love this city, I love this team and I love the guys in the locker room. I’m excited to be a part of a winning tradition.”
