The Calgary Stampeders have signed international defensive back Arthur Hobbs Jr. and international receiver Stephen Burton. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Hobbs, a 25-year-old San Diego native, was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013 as he appeared in 13 regular-season games, including 11 starts, and made 32 tackles, two special-teams tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Hobbs also appeared in three post-season games for the Ticats including the Grey Cup.

Hobbs was signed as an undrafted free agent by the National Football League’s San Diego Chargers in 2012 and signed with the Arena Football League’s Orlando Predators in 2014.

Before turning pro, Hobbs played two seasons at the University of Nebraska Kearney. As a senior for the Lopers in 2011, Hobbs made 54 tackles, including three tackles for loss, six interceptions, including two that he returned for touchdowns, 18 pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. He was named a first-team Div. 2 all-American.

Burton has played 19 career games over three NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was selected in the seventh round (236th) by the Vikings in the 2011 draft and played three games in 2011 and 12 games in 2012. He played three games for the Jaguars during the 2013 season.

Burton scored his first professional touchdown on Sept. 16, 2012, as a member of the Vikings. In 19 career NFL games, he has 15 catches for 149 yards and one major.

Burton played two seasons (2009-10) at West Texas A&M. In 2010, he played 12 games and caught 70 passes for 1,021 yards while sharing the team lead with 11 touchdowns. Burton also saw special-teams duty for the Buffaloes, returning 10 punts for 98 yards and 10 kickoffs for 231 yards. In 2009, he played 12 games — including seven starts — and had 62 catches for 888 yards and two touchdowns.
