Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce international defensive back Jamar Wall has signed a contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In his third season with the Stampeders, Wall shared the league lead in 2014 with six interceptions and earned CFL, CFLPA and West Division all-star recognition. He returned one of the picks for a touchdown on Oct. 24 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The 27-year-old Lubbock, Tex., native started all 18 regular-season games at halfback for Calgary and recorded 62 tackles including one tackle for loss. Wall shared the team lead with five pass knockdowns and also recorded a pair of special-teams tackles.

Wall made four tackles both in the Western Final and in the Grey Cup game as he helped the Stamps capture the seventh championship in franchise history.

“Jamar had an excellent season and was an important part of our secondary and our defence as a whole,” said Hufnagel. “He has improved every season he has been with us and I believe he has the ability to raise his game even higher.”

A former standout at Texas Tech, Wall has played 43 regular-season games over three seasons with the Red and White and registered 136 tackles, three special-teams tackles, 10 interceptions, two sacks, 10 knockdowns, two fumble recoveries and blocked punt.

“Calgary is a great city, the Stampeders are a great organization and I’m really happy to be here,” said Wall. “I have a terrific group of teammates including all of my fellow defensive backs and I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish last year. I’m looking forward to more great things.”
