Calgary Stampeders centre Brett Jones is the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for 2014. The second-year Stamp was honoured at the CFL awards show at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
Jones is the first Stampeders player to win the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award since Ben Archibald in 2010 and the first Canadian-born Stamp to ever claim the trophy.
The award winners are determined through a vote by the Football Reporters of Canada and CFL head coaches.
Jones was the only Calgary offensive lineman to start all 18 regular-season games this season and, as the centre, he has the responsibility of making line calls. He was an integral part of a front line that allowed a league-low 26 sacks this regular season and paved the way for the Stamps to lead the CFL with an average of 143.9 rushing yards per game.
This is the second consecutive season Jones has captured a major CFL award — in 2013, he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie.
