The Calgary Stampeders will play host to the Edmonton Eskimos in the Western Final on Sunday, Nov. 23 at McMahon Stadium. It’s a 2:30 p.m. kickoff for the game that will determine who will represent the West Division in the 102nd Grey Cup.
The Eskimos advanced the Western Final with a 18-10 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in today’s Western Semi-Final at Commonwealth Stadium.
This is the first post-season meeting between the Alberta clubs since the 2011 Western Semi-Final — a 33-19 Eskimos win in Edmonton — and the first at McMahon since the Stampeders prevailed 24-21 in the 2009 Western Semi-Final.
Over the years, Calgary and Edmonton have met 21 times in the playoffs with the Eskimos holding a narrow 11-10 advantage. The clubs have evenly split 10 meetings in the Western Final.
Calgary finished first in the West during the regular season with a 15-3 record including three wins over the Eskimos — 26-22 on July 24 and 41-34 on Sept. 6 in Edmonton and 28-13 on Sept. 1 at McMahon Stadium. Edmonton was second in the West with a 12-6 mark.
