The Stampeders wrap up the home portion of their 2014 regular-season schedule by facing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a Saturday matinee at McMahon Stadium. The opening kickoff is at 2 p.m.

The Stamps (14-2) have already secured top spot in the West Division and are attempting to tie the franchise record for victories in a season at 16. Calgary has won 15 games three times in their history, in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

The most recent 15-win season by a CFL team was accomplished by the 2009 Montreal Alouettes while the 1989 Edmonton Eskimos recorded a league-record 16 victories.

After facing the Blue Bombers, the Stamps will conclude the regular season with a Nov. 7 visit to Vancouver and a meeting with the BC Lions.

The Stamps head into the Winnipeg game with victories in five consecutive home games and a four-game winning streak overall.

Calgary has a 20-2 record at McMahon since the 2012 Labour Day Classic and the Red and White has won the 11 most recent home games against Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers haven’t won at McMahon since Oct. 18, 2002.

The Stamps are coming off a 40-27 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders as Calgary overcame a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The contest marked the third time this season Calgary’s league-leading offence scored at least 40 points and the ninth time the Stamps have put at least 30 points on the scoreboard.

The Blue Bombers (6-11) have lost eight straight games including a 28-23 setback at home against the BC Lions on Saturday. Winnipeg will miss the post-season for a third consecutive year.

This is the second meeting of the season for Calgary and Winnipeg as the Stamps were 33-23 winners in Manitoba on Oct. 18.

Saturday’s game features two of the league’s best young quarterbacks in first-year full-time starters Bo Levi Mitchell of the Stampeders and Drew Willy of the Blue Bombers.

Mitchell leads the CFL with a 97.2 QB rating and boasts an impressive 15-1 record as a starter. Willy is second in the league with 3,747 passing yards.

In regards to the running game, Calgary’s Jon Cornish is 23 yards away from a third consecutive 1,000-yard season and is bidding for a third consecutive rushing title. He leads Saskatchewan’s Anthony Allen by 128 yards for the league lead.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg’s Paris Cotton has back-to-back 100-yard games in the past two games.
