It’s great to get first place clinched this early, but at the same time it’s kind of challenging because now you don’t want to look ahead. You try not to look ahead because each week you’re going to play a good team.
For us, I know from talking with the receivers that we want to be a group that is consistent every week and is the best at what we do. So the goal for us I think is 16-2, and then two more. Right now it’s just going to be a matter of keeping that focus each week and we’ll worry about the playoffs when we get there.
I love the new stadium here in Winnipeg. The two times we’ve played here have been good to me. All in all, I was just excited to go out and be a part of the offence and hopefully that translates into more success week-in and week-out.
With the reverse handoff, the big thing is having a guy like Jon Cornish in a situation like that. He commands so much attention as soon as the ball gets in his hands that once he tossed it back to me, guys set up great blocks out there and I was able to quickly scoot for that first down.
We’ve found a way to win despite penalites and mistakes over the last couple years, and I think that helps with our resolve. To get up early and then they start chipping away, chipping away, chipping away — this is a team that never loses faith in terms of knowing we can win the game. When you’ve got the best guy running the rock, in the end there’s no worries.”
