For the first time this season, Calgary faces Saskatchewan as the Stampeders visit Regina’s Mosaic Stadium on Friday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. MDT.
This is the latest date the Stamps and Roughriders have had their first meeting of the regular season since 1995 when the rivals had to wait until Oct. 14 to play each other.
The Stamps are 10-2 and hold a four-point lead over the Roughriders and Edmonton Eskimos (both 9-4) for first place in the West Division.
Calgary is coming off a 14-7 home victory over the BC Lions on Saturday while the Roughriders dropped a 24-0 decision on Friday in Edmonton.
The long-time rivals met four times in 2013 with each team winning twice. Calgary won two of the three-regular season contests while Saskatchewan upended the Stamps in the Western final.
The Stampeders hold an all-time 121-89-9 advantage against the Roughriders and they have a 50-55-4 record in games played in Regina.
Calgary leads the CFL with a 5-1 road record so far this season while Saskatchewan is 5-1 at home. The Stamps are 4-1 against West Division opponents while the Roughriders are 4-2 within the division.
Jon Cornish will be looking to tie a team record he shares with Willie Burden by rushing for at least 100 yards in a fifth consecutive game. Despite playing just six of 13 games this season, Cornish is just 21 yards back of Montreal’s Brandon Whitaker for the CFL rushing lead.
