The Calgary Stampeders have added international defensive lineman Frank Beltre to the practice roster.
Beltre signed with the National Football League’s San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent on Apr. 27, 2013, and he attended the club’s training camp in 2013. Beltre signed a futures contract with the Oakland Raiders on Jan. 13, 2014, and he was released on May 19, 2014.
In college, Beltre played 45 games — including 40 starts — over four seasons at Towson University (2009-12) and earned first-team all-Colonial Athletic Association his final two seasons. He was third-team all-Colonial Athletic Association as a sophomore in 2010 and was the Tigers’ special teams player of the year as a rookie in 2009.
He had 232 total tackles over his collegiate career including 38 tackles for loss. Beltre added 11 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
In another roster move, the Stampeders have released international defensive lineman Corvey Irvin from the practice roster.
