The 2014 Red and White Gala — presented by the Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association and the Calgary Stampeders — was held at the Red & White Club on Friday, Sept. 12. Proceeds from the Red and White Gala go to the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association in support of Shouldice Fields — Phase II Enhancement Project.
Six individuals were officially added to the Stampeders’ Wall of Fame. They include offensive lineman Jamie Crysdale, defensive lineman Stu Laird, running back James Sykes and lineman Ron Allbright in the players category and longtime athletic therapist Pat Clayton and veteran equipment manager George Hopkins in the builders category.
The group was also honoured at McMahon Stadium during a halftime ceremony at the following day’s game against the Toronto Argonauts.
“The Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association and Calgary Stampeder Football Club are proud to put on the Red and White Gala,” says Romano, a former Stampeders offensive lineman and himself a Wall-of-Fame honouree. “The dinner helps us recognize the contributions these six great men have made to the legacy of the Calgary Stampeders and also supports the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association.”
