Stampeders running back Jon Cornish returned to full practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 1 against the Montreal Alouettes.

“It was nice to be back playing with the guys,” said Cornish, who has been pulled off the six-game injury list prior to the original eligible date of Sept. 6. “I think that was the best part. Honestly, I didn’t think I would notice any issues and I didn’t.”

Also making his return to the practice field was running back Matt Walter after going down with a concussion in Week 5 against the Argos.

“It was actually an awesome experience being able to be back on the field and actually participating in the drills and participating in the team period,” said Walter. “It’s always nice to be back with the guys. It kind of puts me back in touch with that I do and how much I love it.”

There is a chance that an optimistic Cornish could return to action this Sunday in Ottawa.

“I’ve been saying I was going to be ready for this weekend for two weeks,” he said. “I’m trying to play football and I’m not going to play football if I’m not ready, but I’m ready.”
