Anthony Parker was selected by the Stampeders in the first round (third overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft and played his first game on July 1 that year.
He scored his first touchdown on July 26, 2013 in Winnipeg on a 15-yard pass from Bo Levi Mitchell. In three seasons, Parker has recorded 27 catches for 306 yards and two touchdowns.
Anthony was an all-star receiver for the University of Calgary and helped lead the Dinos to Vanier Cup appearances in 2009 and 2010.
We asked Anthony to finish the following sentences with the first thing that came to his mind.
Going to U of C… was an awesome experience. It really was the stepping stone for me getting to the CFL.
Getting selected third overall in the 2011 CFL Draft was… one of the most memorable times of my life. I went into the draft not knowing where I was going to be going and had maybe a theory about where I’d be going and all that. And then getting the phone call before, being able to chat with the coaches and being able to stay at home was just kind of a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
The best lesson my mom taught me… trust your instincts I guess. That kind of applies to everything in life.
I have always wanted to… go to this awesome resort in St. Lucia called Jade Mountain.
I own a lot of… shoes. Most of them are free, but I still own a lot. Mostly running shoes. I like my dress shoes, but mostly a ton of running shoes and cleats being a football player.
High school… I wish I could go back. High school was one of those times you think it was hard at the time and there’s just no worries. Going back would be a cool experience.
The last vacation I took… Las Vegas last year for my wedding anniversary. Just my wife and I went down. We stayed at Aria and it was awesome. It was in May last year.
My first CFL game… goose bumps. I remember walking out and being in the tunnel and it was Canada Day and we were playing Toronto and it was just the craziest feeling. I don’t know, the crowd was just going crazy and I just had goose bumps; probably for that whole game I think I had goose bumps.
Receivers are… the funnest group on the team for sure.
The last haircut I got… was probably about two months ago. It was a mohawk. I was getting my hair cut and I just decided I’m not going to cut off the top section. So it was probably a four-inch mohawk or so, something different.
