Stadium improvements unveiled

The Calgary Stampeders officially announced a number of upgrades for McMahon Stadium during the team’s Fan Forum on Monday night at the Red & White Club.

“McMahon Stadium Society and the Stampeders have long enjoyed a strong and mutually beneficial relationship and the stadium upgrades for the 2014 season are just the latest example of the partnership,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “We’re all very dedicated to making the game-day experience the best it can be for our fans.”

Scheduled improvements for the upcoming season include:

  • A new 30×50-foot scoreboard that will display high-definition videos and replays
  • A 11x-40-foot auxiliary scoreboard that will provide important messaging, live game stats and scoring
  • A new FieldTurf surface to replace the turf that was installed in 2006
  • Concourse expansion with additional washroom facilities and concessions
  • Enhanced pre-game Fan Zone with more food trucks, more entertainment and a seating area that will give fans the opportunity to start enjoying the game-day experience in advance of kickoff time
  • The expanded use of a Fan Hotline that will allow fans to anonymously contact security and report an issue in the stands that is detracting from their enjoyment of the game

“McMahon Stadium is a great facility steeped in tradition and we will continue to work with McMahon Stadium Society to ensure that it continues to get better,” said Norrie. “The improvements this year follows the installation of seat covers, new LED signage and extensive renovations to the Red & White Club in 2013 and there’s more in store for the future.”
