Tim Hawthorne broke into the Stamps’ lineup in the fifth week of the 2013 season and saw action in three games before suffering a season-ending injury.
He played his first game on July 26 in Winnipeg and scored his first touchdown on Aug. 23 in Toronto.
After becoming a star receiver at Homewood High School outside of Birmingham, Hawthorne spent three seasons at Auburn before transferring to North Alabama for his senior year. That season, he finished second on the team in receptions, receiving yards and average yards per catch.
Want to know more about Tim? We asked him to finish the following sentences with the first thing that came to his mind.
Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama… made me the man that I am today. I take pride in my hometown and wouldn’t change it for anything.
In high school I… won a lot (three state-champ football rings, one indoor-track). I’m the all-time leading WR in catches, yards, touchdowns in a single season and career.
Playing college football was… amazing to play in front of 90,000 plus fans every game and while at Auburn to play in college football’s greatest rivalry Auburn vs. Alabama (Iron Bowl).
I have always wanted to… become a coach when my playing days are over because I have a habit of teaching someone the game of football every chance I get.
I own a lot of… cool looking belts that I keep in a secret place for safety.
The last thing I bought online was… a very nice designer belt that I wear the most out of all the ones I have.
The last compliment I got was… that my skin looked so smooth, rich and healthy but I think the main reason was that I am light-skin with freckles.
My first CFL game was… on the road in Winnipeg in the inaugural season of their new stadium and I had the longest catch that game — but most importantly we won.
Receivers are… fast, flashy and very funny.
Scoring my first CFL touchdown… is what I call meant-to-be because I scored the week before playing the BC Lions in BC and it didn’t count due to a penalty. Then the following week, I scored in Toronto — a team Calgary had not beaten in awhile — and we won and my parents made a surprise trip up to the game and it was their 34th anniversary.
