Spencer Wilson grew up in Calgary and is a graduate of Henry Wise Wood High School.
He played junior football for the Calgary Colts, with whom he was a three-time all-star and racked up several awards including being named the co-winner of the MVP award in 2010 and was the Colts’ most valuable lineman three times.
Wilson signed with the Stamps as a free agent in 2011 and saw his first game-action that season on Oct. 21 against the Riders. He made his first CFL start on Aug. 9, 2012, against the Ticats.
We asked Spencer to finish the following sentences with the first thing that came to mind to help us get to know him a little bit better.
Growing up in Calgary was… great! I grew up in the southwest community of Haysboro. We had a big park and hockey rink and wooded area next to the house so you could always find me in the hockey rink in winter or up a tree in the summer.
I never ever… have played “Never Have I Ever”.
The last time I apologized was… Sorry, could you repeat the question?
Playing for the Calgary Colts… was a great stepping stone to get me where I am now. I played three years with a great coach and mentor who taught me what I needed to be to be a pro, Adam Blasetti.
I have always wanted to… score a touchdown.
During the off-season I… live the dream. I train hard and just stay pretty low.
The last thing I bought online was… a single pair of socks. They have Bigfoot on them.
Being an offensive lineman… is the only thing I know. I was 170 pounds when I was in Pee Wee and had to be in a three-point stance.
Playing on the Stamps basketball team is… a huge ego boost. There’s no greater feeling than blocking a junior high girl and giving her the Mutombo finger wag.
