Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of import defensive lineman Kevin Dixon. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Dixon joined the Stampeders in 2011 and saw action in nine games, including two starts. He recorded 14 tackles, including two tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble. Dixon attended training camp with the Stampeders in 2013 after missing the entire 2012 season with a knee injury.
“Kevin showed great promise as a rookie in 2011 and I know that he has worked extremely hard to get healthy again,” said Hufnagel. “I look forward to seeing him back on the field at full strength.”
Prior to joining the Stampeders, Dixon attended training camp with the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks. In his final college season at Troy in 2009, Dixon was selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference second team after recording 29 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, 21 quarterback hurries and one pass break-up.
“I’m proud to be back with the Stampeders,” said Dixon. “I’m so happy to get another chance to play with the team I started my career with and I’m looking forward to getting back on the field again. I’m feeling great and I’m ready to go.”
