Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of two import players — linebacker Kyle Voss and defensive back Otis Merrill. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

As a senior at West Texas A&M in 2013, Voss started 10 games and finished third on the team with 82 total tackles (35 solo). He also recorded 13.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, four pass breakups, four passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Over his collegiate career with the Buffs (2009-2013), Voss played 49 games and registered 310 total tackles (121 solo) including 43.5 tackles for loss.

Merrill attended training camp with the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers in 2012 and was later added to the Packers’ practice roster.

The Cleveland native was an all-Missouri Valley Football Conference second-team selection with Illinois State in 2011 as he accumulated 41 tackles, four pass break-ups, a forced fumble and an interception. In 32 career games for the Cardinals, he recorded 76 tackles. Prior to transferring to Illinois State, he attended the University of Wisconsin and played in the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl.
