Stamps add pair of imports

Angela Burger

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of two import players — linebacker Keith Pough and defensive back O’Hara Fluellen. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Pough played four seasons at Howard University and finished his career with the Bison as the Football Championship Subdivision’s all-time leader in tackles for loss. He was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s defensive player of the year and was first team all-conference after his senior season in 2012 as he recorded 72 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Pough also earned first-team all-conference honours in 2010 and 2011.

He signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and attended the National Football League club’s training camp.

Fluellen was a first-team Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection at Lincoln University of Missouri as he registered a team-best 67 total tackles, including four tackles for loss. He also had four interceptions and led the conference in pass breakups with 11. He also contributed on special teams, returning 24 kickoffs for 516 yards — an average of 21.5 yards per return, which was second best in the conference.

In addition, he saw action on offence, scoring a 97-yard touchdown on his first-ever snap at receiver. That touchdown was the longest in Lincoln history and the longest in the MIAA that season. He finished his college career with 21 career interceptions, a total which placed him second on the school’s all-time list.

Fluellen attended mini-camp with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in 2013.
