Two Calgary Stampeders players have been honoured by the CFL for their play in a Week 16 victory over the BC Lions.
For the fifth time this season and the 19th time in his career, running back Jon Cornish is the Canadian player of the week while punter Rob Maver picks up his second nod in 2013 as the CFL’s special teams player of the week.

Cornish ran for 130 yards and one touchdown to lead the Stamps to a 40-26 win over BC. It was his third consecutive 100-yard game and his seventh triple-digit game of the season. Cornish also had three catches for 35 yards against the Lions.
Over the course of the evening, Cornish broke a pair of single-season records for Canadian players — his own for most rushing yards in a season and BC running back Andrew Harris’ for most yards from scrimmage. He currently leads the CFL in both categories with 1,545 yards and 1,865 yards from scrimmage.
Maver, meanwhile, averaged 49.0 yards on five punts — including boots of 57 and 55 yards — and had a net punting average of 45.6 yards on the night. One of his punts forced the Lions to start a drive on their own three-yard line.
For the season, Maver ranks second in the CFL in both gross punting average (45.1) and net average (37.1).
