Five added to practice roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added import running back Stefphon Jefferson, import defensive lineman Martin Parker, import receiver Kamar Jorden and import defensive backs Jamar Hornsby and Buddy Jackson to the practice roster.

CFL teams are permitted to carry up to 14 practice-roster players (up from the usual nine) for the final month of the regular season.

Here is more information on the newcomers:

Stefphon Jefferson: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honours in 2012 by rushing for 1,883 yards and 24 touchdowns in 13 games for Nevada. Jefferson added 22 catches for 170 yards and a score. He signed with the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent n 2013.

Kamar Jorden: Jorden played three seasons at Bowling Green University and was a two-time selection to the all-Mid-American Conference first team. He played 24 games over three years with the Falcons and finished with 16 career touchdown receptions, 174 catches and 2,198 yards. In 2010, Jorden led the MAC with 96 receptions and accumulated 1,109 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Most recently, he was with Spokane of the Arena Football League.

Martin Parker: Was with the NFL’s New York Giants in 2011 and 2012 and signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2013. During his college career at Richmond, Parker totalled 288 tackles and 19 sacks and earned first team all-conference honours all four seasons. As a senior in 2010, Parker was the top tackler (96) and ranked second overall in sacks (5.5) in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Jamar Hornsby: Recorded 64 tackles and three interceptions in 2012 during his senior season at Tuskegee University.

Buddy Jackson: Has spent NFL time with Indianapolis, Washington, Pittsburgh, Kansas City and the New York Giants. As a senior at the University of Pittsburgh in 2011, he recorded 34 total tackles and added four pass break-ups and one fumble recovery. Jackson also averaged 23.6 yards on 23 kickoff returns and scored one touchdown.

In another transaction, the Stampeders have released import running back Jonathan Williams from the practice roster. Williams played one game for the Stamps this season.
