Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell will get the start tonight in Winnipeg.
“Who wouldn’t want to get their first CFL start? It’s a great thing, a great accomplishment,” says Mitchell. “But either way, it’s another football game — just go out there and play.”
“I expect him to be able to manage the game,” says head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. “He’s done that so far when we’ve put him into games in a lot of different types of situations and for the most part he’s been successful.”
So far this season Mitchell has dressed for all four games and has contributed primarily in short-yardage situations. Last week against Montreal, the Eastern Washington product saw significant playing time when he came into the game in the third quarter in relief of Kevin Glenn. In total he has completed seven of 13 passes for 49 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also has seven carries for 35 yards.
In his first CFL season, Mitchell was impressive in limited action behind centre. In regular-season and post-season play, he ran for eight touchdowns and added three through the air.
