How was it coming back from being down 24-0 against a team like the Alouettes? Obviously it feels pretty good.
It speaks to the character that we have in the locker room.
I think we went through some of those types of games last year — not as bad as being down by 24 — but we are definitely a resilient team and we just keep playing. It’s really good to see going forward.
It is always a challenge to play any team back-to-back in this league because of how good the competition is, but our excitement was definitely there. Montreal is a solid football team, so we had to play a full 60 minutes to come out with that win.
Unfortunately we had a few nicks and bruises today, but the other guys got back up on the horse and continued on and get the “W” for us. Coach Huff always stresses to be ready when your number is called. Whoever is on the field needs to be ready to go and contribute and do that job.
I think last year was really tough on us. We had a lot of injuries come up and we got through. So this year, we should be able to do the same.
Tonight I got my first official CFL touchdown and it feels pretty good. I’ve been in the league for six years now, so it was a long time coming. Bo (Bo Levi Mitchell) threw a nice ball up there and it was a pretty simple catch. It feels good to get the first one!
I tried to not think about it not too much when I found myself open. The ball was just up in the air and it looked pretty big, which made it a pretty simple catch.
I actually never thought about holding onto the ball after as a trophy. Hopefully Geo (equipment manager George Hopkins) can find it for me. That’ll be cool when I’m 60. Right now, it doesn’t mean much but it’ll be nice to have when I’m older.
Next game we’ll be playing a Winnipeg team, in their home, that’ll no doubt be prepared. We’ll have to make sure we follow our game plan, execute and play hard.
However it was a good night tonight for sure.
