Tate diagnosed with muscle strain

An MRI over the weekend revealed that quarterback Drew Tate has a muscle strain in his right forearm.

“Yes he did participate today but we have to let it settle down,” says head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. “It’s a day-to-day situation and we’ll see how long it’ll take to get him back on the field throwing… I would have to think if he doesn’t respond by Day 3 than it’s unlikely he’ll be the starter.”

Tate saw limited practice today in the team’s first session of the week leading up to Friday’s game in Montreal.

“I wasn’t able to throw but I was able to do everything else,” says Tate.  “I kept my legs going, still working on my feet, my drops. Everything’s the same; I’m just not throwing. So still game planning and still watching film and everything. Just not throwing right now.”

Backup quarterback Kevin Glenn took over for Tate at this same time last year when the starting pivot suffered a separated shoulder. Glenn took the first team snaps today and will be ready to go if called upon on Friday night.

“I don’t prepare any different,” says Glenn, who is in his 13th CFL season. “If I was the number one, two or three guy I always prepare as if I’m going to play. So I guess the routine right now, I’m going through a regular routine. There’s nothing new to where I’ve got to be so excited or all of that kind of stuff. I’ll just wait and see what happens.”
