Trio of defensive backs added

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive backs Reggie Jones, Romeo Pellum and Gary Wilburn have signed with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Here is a closer look at each player:

Reggie Jones: Jones was signed as an undrafted free agent by the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints in 2009 and he has also spent time with the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys. Jones played at Portland State in 2008 and recorded 38 tackles and four interceptions including one pick that was returned for a touchdown.

Romeo Pellum: Pellum is a Hampton University alum who attended training camp with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in 2012. In his senior season at Hampton, he recorded 33 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and 13 pass break-ups. Prior to transferring to Hampton, he attended Washington State where in 2008 he made 12 starts and registered 65 tackles and two interceptions.

Gary Wilburn: Wilburn spent four seasons at the University of Connecticut and attended training camp with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans in 2012. In 2011 during his senior season at UConn, Wilburn made 21 tackles. For his career, he had 41 tackles.
