Ticats coming to town Saturday

After clinching a Canadian Football League playoff berth last week, the Calgary Stampeders look to solidify their position in the West Division as they play host to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.

Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is 5 p.m.

It’s also the Stamps’ annual PinkPower game to help raise awareness and raise funds for the battle against women’s cancers.

Fans can get involved in a number of ways:

  • Purchasing game tickets for the Oct. 20 game by visiting stampeders.com/promo and using the promotional code: GOPINK — $5 from each ticket sold will be donated directly to the Canadian Cancer Society
  • Join the fight for life and donate directly at: http://www.fightforlife.ca/pinkpower
  • On game day, look for members of the Canadian Cancer Society selling limited-edition PinkPower Calgary Stampeders gear including a scarf and two different toques. All merchandise is on sale for $20 per piece and the proceeds go directly to Canadian Cancer Society
  • Follow Stampeders player Randy Chevier, the team spokesperson for PinkPower, on Twitter (@ChevySnaptime) for details about a special fundraising promotion
  • After the game, visit the CFL auctions website for a chance to bid on one-of-a-kind, game-used balls and equipment

On the field, the Stampeders (9-6) will try to take another step towards locking up a home playoff date. Last week, Calgary defeated Winnipeg 32-21 to clinch an eighth consecutive trip to the CFL playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Ticats (5-10) are coming off a 37-17 decision on home field against the BC Lions. Hamilton sits third in the East Division and is four points back of Toronto for second place and also four points behind Edmonton, which is in position to snag the crossover playoff berth.

The Stamps and Ticats previously met on Aug. 9 at Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium, with Calgary picking up a 31-20 victory.

The game marks the return to McMahon of Henry Burris, who spent 10 seasons with the Red and White and is Calgary’s all-time leader in numerous passing departments.
