With Saturday’s 32-21 victory over the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg, the Calgary Stampeders have clinched a berth in the 2012 Canadian Football League playoffs.
With a 9-6 record, Calgary is assured of no worse that a crossover playoff berth into the East Division as the Stampeders are guaranteed of finishing the season with a better mark than both Hamilton (5-10) and Winnipeg (4-11). It’s the eighth consecutive season Calgary will take part in the CFL playoffs.
The Stamps can clinch a West Division playoff berth with one more win and would lock up a home playoff contest with two more victories.
The Stamps’ next home game will be on Saturday, Oct. 20 when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats provide the opposition at McMahon. It will be the annual PinkPower game with limited-edition pink Stampeders merchandise being on sale at the stadium. Proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society and the battle against women’s cancers.
